Energy

The use of biomass in our manufacturing process makes our products more sustainable and efficient. In addition to producing enough energy to supply our plants, we sell surplus energy on the Free Energy Market, generating value from the sale of renewable sources, thus contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The co-generation of renewable electric energy from biomass complements our sustainable operations that create value from the corn chain.

The Lucas do Rio Verde plant is certified to sell RECs (Renewable Energy Certificates), ensuring the traceability of the energy exported to the electricity grid, and thus its renewable origin. These certificates, issued by the I-REC Standard, a global tracking system, have gained relevance as they offer an opportunity for companies to neutralize emissions from their electricity consumption. For us, they act as an additional lever in the sustainable value chain, contributing with higher revenues and increasing our clients’ mitigation for climate impacts.
